Inclusion
Program
Inclusive education is based on the core ideal that every child is valued equally and deserves the same opportunities and experiences. Children at all levels of ability learn in classrooms while participating in everyday activities together on a level playing field, developing a positive understanding of themselves and others. This takes place in an environment that reflects many of the similarities and differences existing in the real world while encouraging children to respect, appreciate and embrace the diversity of ability and culture.
At Friends School, we are committed to a mission of inclusion. We value the contribution that all of our students make to the learning community, and believe children of all abilities can learn well with and from one another. At Friends, individual differences are respected and celebrated, and children with special needs are welcome.
The Inclusion Program at Friends School was developed for our students who require additional support to reach their developmental goals. In order to determine if a student requires the services of our Inclusion Program, an extensive evaluation is undertaken. This process includes, but is not limited to, a review of any relevant community based assessments, therapies, progress notes, and reports from current or prior school placements.
